This call for proposals is being organised in accordance with the “Franco-Taiwanese Scientific Grand Prize Agreement” signed between the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and Académie des sciences. Each year, the two sides jointly select and present an award to a French and Taiwanese academic team dedicated to scientific cooperation between the two countries. The winning teams of the year will receive medals and prize money, and will subsequently be eligible to apply to the NSTC for funding to support short-term visits, thereby enabling them to continue planning and facilitating further scientific exchanges.
Award Categories and Funding:
(1) One winning team will be selected each year, and the laureates will collectively receive a prize of €40,000.
(2) Fields of the award: From 2019 onwards, the award is open to all fields.
Applications must be submitted by the Taiwanese and French scholars of the joint research team to the NSTC and Académie des sciences, respectively.
Prospective applicants shall adhere to the following steps:
(1) Complete the online application on NSTC's website.
(2) Download the “NTU Application Form for NSTC Grant for the International Cooperative Project.”
(3) After acquiring the signatures or seals of the head and dean of the executive department/institute, please email the finalized form to the Division of Research Project Affairs (RPA).
The submission deadline is by 17:00 on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Please simultaneously submit your online application through the NSTC system prior to the aforementioned internal application deadline, to enable the university to compile the list and forward it to the NSTC in due time.
Furthermore, the application procedures and deadlines for the French side differ from those of the Taiwanese side. Applications from Taiwanese institutions must first be collated and submitted via the system by the principal investigator’s employing institution (i.e. the University). The University will then compile a list of applicants and formally submit it to the NSTC.
To ensure that the internal administrative procedures are completed smoothly and submitted to the NSTC on schedule, applicants must strictly observe the aforementioned internal deadlines and submit both the online application and the hard copy of the “NTU Application Form for NSTC Grant for the International Cooperative Project.” within the specified timeframe. Late submissions will not be accepted.
