To promote and support scientific and technological cooperation between researchers in Taiwan and France, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)and the Bureau Français de Taipei (BFT) have launched the “Orchid Program” to foster new opportunities for collaboration.
The types of grants and funding include:
I. Project-Based Personnel Exchange Program (PPP) (generally for a period of two years):
Funding is provided for short-term visits or training under collaborative projects. The Taiwanese side will subsidise the costs incurred by researchers (which may include postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students) participating in the project for short-term visits or training in France, with a maximum of NT$350,000 per project per year.
II. Workshop ORCHID 2026: Bilateral seminars (generally for a period of one year):
Funding is provided to cover the costs of organizing a single bilateral seminar (for seminars hosted by the Taiwanese side in Taiwan) or international travel expenses (for the Taiwanese side to attend seminars in France). The grant for each project is generally set at NT$500,000.
Prospective applicants shall adhere to the following steps:
(1) Complete the online application on NSTC's website.
(2) Download the “NTU Application Form for NSTC Grant for the International Cooperative Project.”
(3) After acquiring the signatures or seals of the head and dean of the executive department/institute, please email the finalized form to the Division of Research Project Affairs (RPA).
The submission deadline is by 17:00 on Wednesday, June 29, 2026.
Please simultaneously submit your online application through the NSTC system prior to the aforementioned internal application deadline, to enable the university to compile the list and forward it to the NSTC in due time.
