The NSTC and the Dutch Research Council (NWO) are jointly promoting a collaborative research project in the field of “Energy Transition (Accelerating Energy Transition in Dutch and Taiwanese Ports)”.

Research Focus: This research program focuses on how to overcome the structural challenges of the smart, low-carbon energy transition through policy and system integration, given the dual constraints of the expansion of energy-intensive industries (such as semiconductors and AI) and limited land and natural resources. The core objective is to integrate technologies such as AI, IoT and digital twins with emerging low-carbon energy sources—including green hydrogen and ammonia—and resource recycling technologies to achieve a smart, low-carbon transition; ultimately realizing a sustainable transition ecosystem based on “four-helix cross-sector co-creation” involving government, industry, academia and local communities.

Project Funding: The NSTC funding for each project is capped at NT$3 million per year, for a maximum of five years.

Composition of the Taiwanese team: Must include the principal investigator, co-principal investigator and other non-mandatory partners (organisations not funded by the NSTC).

Prospective applicants shall adhere to the following steps:

(1) Complete the online application on NSTC's website.

(2) Download the “NTU Application Form for NSTC Grant for the International Cooperative Project.”

(3)  After acquiring the signatures or seals of the head and dean of the executive department/institute, please email the finalized form to the Division of Research Project Affairs (RPA).

The submission deadline is by 17:00 on Tuesday, March 2, 2027.

Please simultaneously submit your online application through the NSTC system prior to the aforementioned internal application deadline, to enable the university to compile the list and forward it to the NSTC in due time.
