Pushing the frontier of knowledge is closely correlated with precise tackling of problems across all disciplines, ranging from life, natural, to engineering sciences. National Taiwan University, being the cradle of innovations and great minds in Taiwan, has gained global visibility by its stellar performances in versatile research fields and is now planning for the next stage, breakthroughs in a broad spectrum of outstanding problems. For this ultimate scope to be realized, a professional supporting platform of core facilities is indispensable and should comprise the two essential ingredients of advanced instrumentations and dedicated technical experts. On the basis of this core concept, National Taiwan University has grouped the most reputed principal investigators and technical staffs in modern instrumentations in the university and established “Consortia of Key Technologies”. The consortia consist of biological imaging, mass spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and micromechanical electronics processing and aim at addressing all critical questions in the given fields by advanced techniques and expertise.
