To facilitate the active recruitment of outstanding academic talent by departments (divisions, graduate institutes, degree programs, and offices) and centers with the aim of enhancing the University’s academic capacity and international influence
I. Application Eligibility: Candidates recommended by a recruiting unit must be outstanding talent with significant academic research potential or international recognition who has been recruited but has yet to assume their positions with their appointment applications at least approved by the Faculty Evaluation Committee of their department (division, graduate institute, degree program, office, or center)
II. In principle, self-raised funds from departments (divisions, graduate institutes, degree programs, offices), centers, and colleges must be at least 25% of the total funding amount.
III. In principle, the university will fund 3 applications at most for each college per year.
I. If the requested university funding amount of the Talent Recruitment Research Grant does not exceed the combined total of current grants available to newly hired faculty members, such as the research initiation grants and research equipment grants for newly hired faculty members, the university shall revert to those existing programs. Recipients of the Talent Recruitment Research Grant are not eligible to apply for the research initiation grants and research equipment grants for newly hired faculty members.
II. The number of funded applications and the amount will be determined based on the review results and the overall budget of the institution. (The number and proportion of new faculty of the University for each semester will be taken into consideration)
The Call-for-proposal will be announced twice a year (the first and the second half year, respectively) by the Office of Research and Development.
