Furthermore, they are expected to reach a consensus with the student concerning their respective rights and obligations.

Due to project-related factors or other special reasons, if the principal investigator is unable to apply for the project research scholarship recipients in advance, they shall complete the application and approval process within 2 months from the commencement date of employment. Late applications will not be accepted.
Q1 What if students do not receive email notifications delivered by the Project Personnel Employment Application System?
AThe emails sent by the system are susceptible to being classified as spam by free email accounts, such as Gmail. We recommend using NTU's email account. Alternatively, NTU students can directly access the "研究計畫兼任助理學生專區" on myNTU for online confirmation if they didn't receive the email.
Q2 Are Mainland Chinese students eligible to apply to serve as student research assistants?
AMainland Chinese students can only apply to serve as project research scholarship recipients under research projects not funded by government agencies.
In accordance with Article XIV and Article XV of the "Regulations on Mainland Chinese Students Attending Junior College or Other Higher Education Institutions in Taiwan" and the official document of the Ministry of Education (code: 臺教高(四)字第1020140814B號令) issued on Jan. 22, 2014, while studying in Taiwan, Mainland Chinese students shall not take part-time or full-time jobs except for course-learning or service-learning project research assistants enumerated in the above-mentioned official document. Central government agencies and their subordinate entities shall not budget for scholarships or aids for Mainland Chinese students. Schools shall not use central government funding for the purposes of scholarships or aids for Mainland Chinese students.
Q3 Why can't students apply to serve as temporary worker?
AIn accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education on student research assistants, students can only serve as project research scholarship recipients or project employee-oriented assistants. Students who work as temporary worker in seminars or other events may apply for project employee-oriented assistants.

Q How long will it take for the application for the NTU students - project research scholarship recipients to be reviewed online?
APrincipal investigators can check the application status in the system by accessing the "Applications pending approval" tab.
The personnel at the Office of Research and Development will review applications online every other day, but the review process might take longer when there is a higher volume of applications.
To protect the rights of student research assistants, following the approval of the employment application, stipend shall be disbursed on a monthly basis.
Project employee-oriented assistants are required to personally sign in and out in accordance with the agreed-upon working hours. The arrangement of work and rest hours, leaves, rest days, and fixed days off for the assistants shall comply with the Labor Standards Act. Principal investigators are responsible for monitoring the attendance of project employee-oriented assistants and maintaining an attendance record for future reference. The attendance records of assistants shall be retained for five years from the first day of separation, following the NTU regulations and the Labor Standards Act.
Project executive units (departments, colleges or research centers) shall protect the rights of student research assistants (including NTU students who serve as research assistants outside NTU) in accordance with "國立臺灣大學勞僱型學生兼任助理勞動權益保障處理要點" and "國立臺灣大學獎助生權益保障處理要點." The project executive units are authorized to stamp and approve relevant documents within their jurisdiction and responsibility for personnel management matters. These units are tasked with assisting principal investigators in the management of and dispute resolution with student research assistants, following labor regulations and related student regulations. Each unit is required to maintain written records of dispute settlement for future inspection.

Q How can I modify the initially approved stipend amount for student research assistants?

The originally approved application has been confirmed by the principal investigator and student research assistant regarding its employment type, employment period, and stipend. To protect the rights of student research assistants, arbitrary changes to the employment period and stipend are not permitted.
