Industry Liaison Office (ILO) of National Taiwan University, in collaboration with partner institutions, has established the Global Industry Platform of NTU System to facilitate academic innovation and promote industry-academia collaboration through diverse and strategic channels. The platform brings together resources from industry, government, and academia to advance innovation and entrepreneurship in research and education.
The ILO has also initiated the NTU Seedling Program Funding, which allocates resources to support emerging startup teams within the university. Furthermore, the ILO places strong emphasis on industrial engagement, promoting the commercialization of research outcomes and facilitating industrial advancement through international exhibitions, patent matchmaking events, and other key initiatives.
In the knowledge-based economy, NTU actively transforms research outputs into industrial applications to drive innovation and economic growth. The university supports faculty and students in intellectual property protection, patent management, technology transfer, and startup development, forming a positive cycle between academia and industry.
NTU files more than 200 patent applications annually and holds over 2,400 active patents worldwide. In 2026, NTU ranked among the top 100 universities globally in 2025 Worldwide Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents, surpassing leading institutions. The university facilitates over 600 industry collaboration projects each year and completes more than 200 technology licensing agreements annually, with over one-third of faculty members participating in academia-industry collaboration. To further strengthen technology transfer and industry engagement, NTU has established 16 industry consortia and 12 corporate-sponsored research centers across diverse fields.
To enhance the visibility and accessibility of research output, NTU has developed the Licensing Technologies at NTU platform, which integrates and showcases the university’s intellectual property portfolio and licensable technologies, demonstrating the real-world impact of interdisciplinary research.
