Academic Research-Career Development Project (Laurel Research Project)

The program is to incentivize NTU faculty members to commit to their long-term research of originality in important fields and thus achieve full research potential, with the hope to help NTU lead research in cutting-edge and important fields.

National Taiwan University Higher Education SPROUT Project Directives for Funding Academic Research Career Development: Please check the files below, file mumber 1.

Eligibility

Individuals who have received NSTC grants for outstanding young scholar research projects in or before 2025.

 

  • Note 1: This subsidy does not apply to recipients of the "Emerging Young Scholars" or "International Outstanding Young Scholars" grants under the NSTC 2030 Cross-Generation Young Scholars Program.
  • Note 2: If the outstanding young scholar research project grant has already been utilized to apply for the "New Faculty Research Project Grant," the applicant shall not be eligible to apply for the "Laurel Research Project" in the same year.
  • Note 3: As the University has launched multiple subsidy programs to encourage outstanding young scholars, this subsidy will cease to apply to newly approved NSTC projects starting from 2026.
Subsidy Period and Amount
  • Application Period: August 1 to October 31 annually.
  • Grant Amount: 30% * (Total amount approved by NSTC - Equipment costs - additional subsidy exclusively for hiring PhD student assistants).
  • Subsidy Limit for Foreign Travel Expenses: Effective from August 22, 2023, the annual budget compilation ceiling for foreign travel expenses has been adjusted to 15% of the total project budget.
Application Procedure

For the project host, please log in to the "NTU Projects Application System" (Do not need to re-register if you use the school’s accounting and password), and click on the "Laurel Research Project" to start the application.

Funding relocation application

In accordance with the official letter No. 1100042067 dated June 24, 2021, in order to speed up the process, when relocation of project funding issued by ORD (accounting codes: L7, L8, L9, V) is in need, please submit the funding relocation application by electronic official documents. The examples of the electronic official document and the funding relocation application (no seal required at the bottom of the application form) are attached down below for reference.
