Legal Basis

Operation Guidelines for NSTC Research Grant for University Students

Application Period

Usually spanning from January to February annually, subject to the official announcement from NSTC.

Application Procedures
  1. Interested undergraduate students shall apply on NSTC's website and complete the "NTU Application Form for College/University Student Research Projects Subsidization” (國立臺灣大學申請國科會大專學生研究計畫申請書).The completed form must be submitted to the handler of the Office of R&D (ORD) in hard copy, adhering to the university's designated deadline.

    1. For students enrolled at NTU, the application form shall be signed by the head of their department and the advisor.

    2. For students from other universities, the application form shall be signed by the head of their respective home university department and the advisor.

  2. The responsible personnel in the student's department will verify the student's identity and confirm the submitted application through NSTC's website.

  3. The advisors shall upload the “Advisor's Preliminary Evaluation Form” to NSTC's website.

  4. The ORD will compile all the received applications and submit them to NSTC for review, along with the necessary official documents from the university.

  5. After approximately 3 months, NSTC will notify the university with an official notification containing the approved list of grants. The ORD will then inform the advisors about the approval and request the funding disbursement from NSTC on behalf of the grant recipients. The advisors are responsible for guiding their respective students to proceed with the project execution.

Academic Research Ethics Education Courses
  1. According to "NSTC Directions for College/University Student Research Projects Subsidization" Act 16, no. 4 added on November 1, 2024, students applying for the subsidization shall pass a 6-hour academic research ethics education courses.
  2. The course certification shall be submitted online and deliver to the RPA’s contact person in hard copy prior to the online application deadline, along with the application form.

Project Execution and Project Closure
  1. The project execution period spans from July in the year of project approval to February in the following year.

  2. Grant recipients are required to personally submit the necessary documents directly to the Accounting Office for reimbursement. For any inquiries regarding reimbursement regulations and procedures, please reach out to the Accounting Office. You can find more information and contact details on their website.

  3. Grant recipients must submit their research outcomes report on NSTC's website within one month after completing the research project. The report needs to be uploaded and confirmed by the advisors before the specified deadline.

  4. Once the research report has been submitted, grant recipients shall inform the Accounting Office to initiate the project closure process.

  5. Grant recipients who submit their reports within the designated deadline will be eligible to participate in the evaluation for the "College Student Research Creativity Award" organized by NSTC.
