As a seeding project, to encourage faculties and researchers with different academic expertise to engage in interdisciplinary research collaboration, exploring visionary and innovative research ideas or key topics, promoting original research originating from NTU, and forming distinctive research areas and teams of the University.
The Call-for-proposal will be announced roughly twice a year (the first and the second half year, respectively) by the Office of Research and Development. The call-for-proposal topics will be selected from the speech topics presented in NTU Interdisciplinary Research Workshops held in the past half year.
I. The project shall be proposed as a single integrated team project, with 2 to 3 faculty members or research fellows (of NTU or affiliated institutions) participating in each project in principle. The team members should belong to at least 2 or more departments, institutes, or affiliations. Chief Principal Investigator must be a certified (quota-based) full-time NTU faculty member or research fellow.
II. The team members cannot be members currently belonging to a same Core-Consortium project or other integrated projects.
III. Including this interdisciplinary seed project, faculty members can at most serve as chief principal investigators, subproject principal investigators, or co-investigators of ORD-administrated research projects (excluding matching funds and new faculty-related starting funds/supports.)
The grant supports the personnel, general operating, and research equipment expenses for executing the project. The planning and usage of the grant shall comply with grant regulations of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Sprout Project (大專校院高等教育深耕計畫經費使用原則), Directives for funding usage entrusted and subsidized by Ministry of Education (教育部補(捐)助及委辦經費核撥結報作業要點), and other relevant regulations of the government.
I. The research proposal is limited to at most 5 pages (excluding abstract and references); the content shall include abstract, background and motivation, concept and approach, team integration and collaboration, anticipated goals of the project, references, and research budget. Proposals can be prepared in either English or Chinese, Please refer to the proposal template for details.
II. PI Personal Information:all project members please provide the NSTC-format CV’s (NSTC C301, CM302, C303 format) and Major Research Accomplishments in the recent 5 years.
III. Reviewing Criteria:interdisciplinary characteristics, novelty and originality, prospect, feasibility, significance and impact, team integration, anticipated results, and potential for future development.
I. Duration of project funding:1 year at most, subjected to the proposal's review decision.
II. Amount of funding:NT$800,000 at most for each integrated project in principle, subjected to the review decision and the University’s overall financial consideration. The detailed budget allocation is not needed at the project application stage. PI will be asked to provide the budget allocation when the project is recommended.
The Project Report shall be turned in 2 months after the completion of the project.
